The Nanaimo Chapter of the Vintage Car Club of Canada
Island Autumn Tour, Gabriola Island, Saturday September 7, 2019

Everyone mustered near the Gabriola Island Ferry Terminal in Nanaimo at 8:00 am. As each vehicle approached the toll booth Nanaimo VCCC member and tour organizer Ray Koch paid the fare using a BC Ferries Experience Card. Particpants socialized waiting for and travelling on the 20 minute crossing.

Upon disembarking from the ferry the 30 cars were divided into 2 groups of 15.
Each group was led by a member of their host, The Gabriola Cruisers Auto Club,
with another Cruisers member taking up the sweep position at the end of the group.
The Gabriola Island Tour included a 30 KM loop beginning on South Road
along the west side of the Island, reaching Silva Bay at its southern tip,
then swinging onto North Road along the island's eastern side back to the Village Core.

A further route was along Taylor Bay Road out to Orlebar Point,
a photo op stop overlooking Entrance Island.

There were other stops along the way, a visit to the Gabriola Museum,
a quick stop at Brickyard Beach, a stop at Silva Bay
and a lunch stop at the Gabriola Golf Club.

Having some extra time one group also visited a local seashore location
called Malaspina Galleries.

Gabriola Cruisers volunteers provided directional and traffic control assistance.
